Cor – A Program to form and strengthen Catholic men in faith and virtue

Victoria Council of the Knights of Columbus invites you to join us this May to Study Mary, the Mother of God through our 4-session program that comprises prayer, food, a video presentation and a discussion period.  Dates are: 3, 10, 17, & 24 May; time 12:00 – 1:40 PM at Queen of Peace Church.  We will provide the prayers, food, video, and question sheets.  You will need a Bible (RSV-CE2 recommended) and a Catechism of the Catholic Church, if you have one.  The video and questionnaire are produced by Steve Ray through Ignatius Press.  Your facilitator will be Kevin Kirkwood at kdkirkwood@shaw.ca.  Preregistration is required – there are only 10 seats available.

Two Bible Studies Offered in May through June

Join us for a journey through either the Gospel of Luke or the Letter to the Romans as we offer Two 8-session Bible Studies this May and June.  Both are free, limited to 10 persons, and require preregistration.  Romans will be offered on Tuesdays beginning 6 May and ending 24 June from 7-8:30 PM.  Luke will be offered on Wednesdays beginning 7 May, ending 25 June and also from  7-8:30 PM.  For more information and Preregistration contact Kevin at kdkirkwood@shaw.ca

Peter Stornebrink Requiem Mass March 31

Peter Stornebrink, a long time member of our Latin Mass Community, and a great supporter of our Latin Mass throughout the years, passed away March 19, 2025,  the Feast of St. Joseph.  He joins his wife Christine, who passed away in January of this year.

  • Prayers will take place Sunday evening, March 30, at 7:00 pm
  • Funeral Mass:  Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11:00 am, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, followed by a luncheon downstairs
  • Burial will follow at Hatley Gardens, on Sooke Road, at 2:30 pm

Christine Stornebrink Requiem Mass February 6

Christine Stornebrink, long time parishioner at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Latin Mass community and wife of Peter Stornebrink, passed away January 22, 2025.  Viewing and prayers will take place Wednesday evening, February 5, at 7:00 pm.  The Traditional Requiem Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 6, followed by a luncheon downstairs afterwards.  Burial will follow at Hatley Gardens, on Sooke Road, at 2:30 pm.

Gaudete Bake Sale (Dec 15)

There will be a Gaudete Bake Sale on Gaudete Sunday, December 15, 2024, downstairs following the noon Mass.

All proceeds will go to help pay for the ceiling acoustic baffles in the downstairs hall.

Baked item can be dropped off before the noon Mass, from 11 am to 12 noon.  Please have baked goods wrapped, priced and ready to sell.

Book Sale

There will be a book sale after Mass on Sunday, June 2, 2024 (not May 26, as the June newsletter reported). This will be the last one before a summer break. Book sales will resume in September.

A News & Announcements page has been added; there is a link in the top main menu.  Recent news and announcements will also appear in the sidebar. Announcements that will be posted here will include:

  • important website changes
  • notices of events or other items of interest to the Latin Mass community, which either did not make it into the current newsletter, or will occur before the next newsletter appears
  • significant corrections to the newsletter
